The Pleasanton Police Department
Telecommunications office is in operation on a 24-hour basis and the work
load is divided into three shifts.
The communications office is staffed with 5 operators. The telecommunications
operator's primary mission is to provide the citizens of Pleasanton with
prompt, effective, and efficient access to the various services provided
by police and fire departments.
The telecommunications operators try to insure
that each request for service receives the appropriate response according
to the need and available resources.
The operators dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for
police and fire, and also receive and dispatch requests for city
services, and for the United States Marshals Service for the
Western District of Texas. All operators are certified by the Texas Department of
Public Safety and have a minimum of 48 hours of training
within the first year.
